The Best Decision...

For the past three years I have been fortunate to have a wonderful salon in Grand Rapids taking care of me for my shows, photo shoots, television, special events and normal everyday life. :) A new hairstyle, a new hair product that does wonders for your hair, getting your makeup done...all of these things can make you feel like a new person. The folks at Cheeky Strut in Grand Rapids have always been dedicated to making me and all of their clients feel like their absolute best self. I want to dedicate this blog post to Cheeky Strut and share some of my favorite styles from the past few years. But first...a little back story. :)

Cheeky Strut is, hands down, the best salon I have ever been in. I love the atmosphere! From the sparkly unicorns, pretty chandelier, to the cutest bathroom I've ever seen, Cheeky Strut has mastered the laid back yet sophisticated feel all the while being a high-end and unique salon. Honestly, there is a special feeling when you walk through the door. You just feel good. I feel so welcomed every time. Cheeky Strut clients know what I am talking about.

Never have I ever walked in and not been greeted with a smile by at least 3 or 4 people in the first 5 minutes and immediately been offered coffee, water or even a glass of wine. ;) Even if I am not their personal client, other stylists take the time to say hello and make me feel like they genuinely care that I am there. One of the most amazing things to me is how, Scott Sanders (the general manager) remembers EVERYONE'S name. I've never heard him not call a client by their first name. That goes such a long way with people and it reminds me how passionate those that work at the Cheeky Strut are and much they care about their client's happiness.

Every time I am at Cheeky Strut I think about how lucky I am to have such wonderful people putting so much of their time and effort into making sure I feel confident and awesome on the stage and in front of the camera.

I remember my first time at Cheeky Strut. I was getting my hair done for a special event. When I sat down, Kaite Lyn (the owner and also a top stylist at her salon) looked at me and said, "I think we are going to give you a mohawk." Her confidence that it would look awesome made me not even think twice about it. Before I knew it I was saying, "Go for it," and I walked out of there with the raddest hair style I'd ever had and got a boatload of compliments.

From then on, Kaite Lyn was doing my hair for my bigger shows, my album cover, my photo shoots...etc. She always had a way of giving me a completely new look, getting me to try something new and totally refreshing my style. I was able to find the right products that actually worked for my hair. I've said this before and I will always say it because it's true. For a girl that has had thin, not incredibly workable hair her whole life...Cheeky Strut made me love my hair again.

A little over a year ago I was thrilled when my best friend, Sara Catherine, graduated Aveda Institute in Grand Rapids and started working at Cheeky Strut. She started doing my hair for some of the bigger events and shows. The pink hair at the Thompson Square show...yeah, that was her. :)

If you are looking for a new salon, want to talk to someone who will be honest with you about a style choice and open to what you have to say, or if you are just in need of a fresh change...give Cheeky Strut in Grand Rapids a chance. It'll be the best decision you make all day. :)
