I Love It When We're Cruisin' Together

The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
Jacques Yves Cousteau

I spent last week on an incredible, unique adventure. I got to travel on a ship with some of my closest friends to some amazing, beautiful places and play music all week long. I also got to wear dresses and skirts, let my hair air dry in the sun, and have bare feet for a week straight so it pretty much made my life. It was an awesome experience that I'm sure will never happen just this way again. I am so happy I was fortunate enough to be a part of it and that I got to experience it with the amazing group of musicians that were on this trip. I wanted to share a few of my favorite moments and pictures from an incredible journey that I will never forget. Hope you enjoy!

Goodbye Michigan

On Friday, January 10 I hopped in a van with some of my fellow musician pals and we made a 24 hour trip to Miami. It was so fun traveling with these kids. Lots of jammin', joking, story-telling and laughs the whole way down. Made the straight through the night 24 hour trip not seem so long.

Jammin' on the way to Miami.

From Miami, we boarded the MSC Divina Cruise Ship and spent the remainder of the week at sea, playing music and making stops in The Cayman Islands, Cozumel and The Bahamas.

Days One and Two - The Ship at Sea

At the Port in Miami. Right before hopping on the ship for the first time.

The ship was incredible and so HUGE. I had never been on a cruise ship before so I didn't really know what to expect. It definitely blew me away though.

I spent a lot of time writing/playing songs on the balcony...ahhhhh.

Did some ship deck jammin' ...loved all the time spent just acoustic jammin' with these dudes all week.

DAY Three - Cayman Islands

On Day number three the ship made a stop in the Cayman Islands where I went swimming with stingrays! I'm not going to lie, I was definitely a little scared at first. It's a tiny bit unnerving having these massive sea creatures swimming right next to you. The moment you get in the water they are all around you! I got to touch a couple of them and feed them as well. If you've ever fed a stingray you know how weird it is. Basically, you hold the food under them and they suck it up like a vacuum. Though I was a little skeptical at first, I'm so happy that I did this. I mean, how many more times will I have opportunity to swim in the sea with stingrays, right?

Swimmin' with the stingrays.

You have just never seen water this blue.

I took this picture because my bathing suit matched the sea and I was really excited.

Stopped for lunch at super tasty restaurant after our adventure with the stingrays.

 New friends!

Nick with the sea and a ship in the background

Back on the ship with these cool kids.

My girl, Jessie! I'm so happy she was able to come on this trip. It was awesome getting to know her better and spending some time with her and her sweet grandma, Becky.

Day Four - Cozumel

On day number four we stopped in Cozumel, Mexico. This was maybe my favorite day. Even though it was a little bit windy and chilly for Mexico, it was so much fun. Nick, Lyndsey, Sean and I rented scooters and scoot scooted all over the island. We ended up going off the beaten path and finding some really amazing little beaches. It was awesome to get a real look at the island outside of the touristy area. I loved this day!

I made a new friend. :D

Found a Peacock.

Happy kids by the sea.

 Happy, happy day in Mexico.

Sean - A very photogenic kinda guy. :)

I found a beautiful, amazing shell in the sea and I was really, really excited about it...mostly because I'm an adult. :)

Found this AWESOME beach. There was a little tiki hut bar as well. (Someone at the bar had their puppy there and I got to play with it, so naturally this beach takes the cake for best beach of the day) ;).

 Best friends in Mexico.

Sunset in Cozumel - Stunning.

Later that night at dinner...

Scott was not prepared for this.

My gang! xo

 BRENA Boys rockin' it.

This is pretty dang adorable.

Day Five - At Sea

Day number five was spend at sea .We played some music during the day, enjoyed the sunshine and had a blast getting to hang out with one another. It was nice having a day just being at sea. It was also a night where we had a formal dinner so everyone was lookin' fancy. :)

Afternoon jammin' in the Golden Jazz Bar. I love jammin' with these cats.

Tim McGraw stopped by for a little bit to play some fiddle for us. ;)

 Cocktail Hour.

 These guys...

How does one caption a picture such as this?

 Cocktail Hour. Mirror Pic.

Sean's new look - The Michael.

 Love these crazy people.

The room attendant kept making all these awesome, little towel animals and I loved them.

Day Six - The Bahamas

Our last port stop was a beautiful beach in the Bahamas. This day was spent soaking up the sun, enjoying the water and playing one final show that night. It was nice to have one regular ol' beach day to get some sand and salt on our skin before having some fun our last night on the ship.

Hello, Bahamas.

Did some writing on the beach and is was oh so wonderful.

I'll just stay here on the beach forever, Mmmkay thanks.

Happy best's beachin' it up!

I love these people.

Once we got back on the ship, we had dinner and then headed off to jam one last show. All three bands took the stage together and it was a riot. I had an absolute blast playing music with Brena and Union Guns. I'm so, so happy we all got to take this trip together.

We did a 3 band jam the last night! The place was packed and everyone danced and sang the night away with us.

After we were done playing, we all spent the rest of the night hanging out. Oh yeah...I forgot to mention that, Nick and I found these INSANELY AWESOME storm trooper helmets in the hallway of the ship that were leftover from the cruise before ours so obviously we took them (they were going to throw them out)...they were a pretty big hit. Ha!

Our favorite bartender! He was awesome!

My girl, Niah...basically looking more awesome than anyone else in the storm trooper helmet...per usual.

 Guess who?!

Oh, just got to play music on a Caribbean Cruise and have my best friends big deal. <3!

So much happy in one picture.

Day Seven - Goodbye Sea

This trip was incredible. It was so refreshing to get out of the cold and hide my cell phone and e-mail away for 7 days. I am a lucky girl, not only because I got to do this, but because I got to do it some really fantastic people that I love a lot and some new friends that I made from all over the world. This trip reminded me of something that I often forget, and that is that it's ok to slow down and enjoy life once in awhile. I get so caught up in the whirlwind of this busy life and the demands of day to day. It just starts to look like a blur of grey sometimes. It's important to slow it down and appreciate all the vibrant moments of color that make up this beautiful, crazy, wonderful life.

Nothin' but love.
